One force is balanced by another force. It will not change the object’s motion. Equal forces pushing or pulling = no movement. Net Force = 0.

Forces are not equal so it does change the motion of an object. It can cause an object to move, to stop moving or to change direction.

Friction is a contact force. The surfaces touch each other. Friction is the resistance of motion when one object rubs against another in the opposite direction. Anytime two objects rub against each other, they cause friction.

Air Resistance

Contact force. Frictional force air exerts against a moving object. As an object moves, air resistance slows it down. The faster the object's motion, the greater the air resistance exerted against it.

The force of attraction between any 2 objects.

On Earth, it is the force that pulls objects to the center of the Earth. Anything that has mass, has gravity. The more mass, the higher the gravitational pull.
