To divide a decimal by a whole number, move the decimal point in the dividend (the number being divided) to the right as many places as needed to make it a whole number, then divide as usual.

To divide two decimals, first convert them to whole numbers by moving the decimal points to the right. Then, divide as you would with whole numbers and place the decimal point in the quotient.

To multiply two decimals, multiply them as if they were whole numbers, then count the total number of decimal places in both factors and place the decimal point in the product accordingly.

The decimal point indicates the value of the number. In division, it helps determine the placement of the decimal in the quotient.

To convert a fraction to a decimal, divide the numerator (top number) by the denominator (bottom number).

Cost per person = Total cost ÷ Number of people.

Multiplication and division are inverse operations; dividing a number by another is the same as multiplying by its reciprocal.

To round a decimal to two decimal places, look at the third decimal place. If it is 5 or greater, round up the second decimal place by one. If it is less than 5, keep the second decimal place the same.
