Rural-to-Urban Migration

The movement of people from the countryside to cities.

Zelinsky’s Mobility Transition Model

Internally Displaced Person (IDP)

A person who is forced to flee their home but who remains within their country's borders.

A person who has left their home country as a political refugee and is seeking asylum in another.

The forced removal of a particular ethnic group from a territory.

The process of returning a person to their place of origin or citizenship.

A scattered population whose origin lies in a separate geographic locale.

Money sent by migrants back to their family or community in their country of origin.
