Qualitative Graphs

A qualitative graph is a type of graph that represents information in a way that shows trends or relationships without using numerical values. It focuses on the general shape and direction of the data.

A negative slope indicates that the value of the variable is decreasing over time.

A horizontal line indicates that the variable is constant and not changing over time.

A steep slope indicates a rapid change in the variable, meaning it is increasing or decreasing quickly.

A flat section of a graph means that there is no change in the variable during that time period.

You can tell someone is moving faster if the slope of the line is steeper compared to other sections of the graph.

If a graph starts above the y-axis, it means that the subject was already at a certain distance or value before the time period represented on the graph began.

A positive slope indicates that the variable is increasing over time.

A sudden drop in a qualitative graph indicates a quick decrease in the variable, which could mean a stop or reversal in movement.

Multiple peaks and valleys indicate fluctuations in the variable, showing that it is changing direction or speed frequently.
