Oval nail shape

All-purpose nail shape that flatters and softens the appearance of the hands. Hardwearing against breakages due to its smooth edges. Side walls are straight, then at the free edge, curves round.

Pointed nail shape

Back

Makes nails look longer but offers no support from the nail wall, so it can easily weaken and split. Also known as stiletto, with a tapered free edge creating a sharp point at the end of the nail.

Good for clients with long fingers and short nails. Less likely to break because it provides good support for the sides of the nails. Not recommended for clients with short fingers as it can make them look even shorter. Straight side walls and a straight flat/blunt free edge.
