Magnets

A magnet is an object that can attract certain metals, like iron.

Materials like iron, nickel, and cobalt are attracted to magnets.

The nail will move towards the magnet because it is made of iron.

Magnetic force.

No, magnets only attract certain metals.

The north pole of a magnet attracts the south pole of another magnet and repels the north pole.

You will have two smaller magnets, each with a north and south pole.

A magnetic field is the area around a magnet where magnetic forces can be felt.

You can test it by bringing a magnet close to the object; if it moves, it is magnetic.

Magnets are used in refrigerators to keep doors closed.
