What policy is in place to prevent unauthorized people from coming on campus?

All visitors are directed and signed in at the campus Vestibule before gaining access to the building. The campus administration and designated staff members actively monitor the campus camera system looking for suspicious behavior and unauthorized people on the campus. Staff members are strategically placed at access points throughout GHS Buildings. The GHS Parking lot attendant along with other campus security personnel actively monitors the perimeter of the building.

How are students monitored to prevent altercations at school?

Teachers actively monitor student behavior in the classroom, staff members are assigned hall duty to monitor hallways for student misbehavior, designated staff members circulate the campus and restroom areas to monitor student behavior throughout the school day, and students are routinely reminded of behavioral expectations on the campus through announcements and by classroom teachers.

What training have you received in emergency response and school safety?

Campus staff members are provided with Standard Response Protocol (SRP) annually at the beginning of each school year. Staff members are also provided with Stop the Bleed training provided by Garland ISD Security and the Garland Police Dept. Staff members receive ongoing training during staff development presentations throughout the school year. The campus performs safety drills throughout the school year to practice proper implementation of safety procedures (Lockdown, Evacuation (Fire), Shelter, Hold, Secure drills, etc.
