Divide Using Partial Quotients and Rectangular Models

Division is the process of splitting a number into equal parts. It is the opposite of multiplication.

The dividend is the number that is being divided in a division problem.

The divisor is the number by which the dividend is divided.

The quotient is the result of a division problem.

Partial quotients are a method of division where you subtract multiples of the divisor from the dividend until you reach zero.

1. Start with 224. 2. Subtract 70 (10 times 7) to get 154. 3. Subtract 70 again to get 84. 4. Subtract 70 again to get 14. 5. Subtract 7 (1 time) to get 0. 6. Add the quotients: 10 + 10 + 10 + 1 = 32.
