to do a fraction with decimals, in the first instance, forget the decimal.
eg: to solve 9.8 x 2.3 do 98 x 23
use the column or grid method
Then bring the decimal point in the answer. If you had two digits after the decimal point in the question, put two digits after the decimal point in your answer.
98 x 23 = 2254
so 9.8 x 2.3 = 22.54
