What is the circulatory system?

It is responsible for the flow of blood throughout the body. It moves oxygen around the body. It moves carbon dioxide and other waste products out of the body and moves nutrients and water to the cells in the body.

The human heart is the main organ in the circulatory system. The heart is like two pumps working side by side. Its main function is to pump blood through the blood vessels to all parts of the body. The muscle is called the cardiac muscle.

The heart is located a little to the left of the middle of your chest.

The heart has four chambers. Each half is divided into the upper and lower part

The upper part is called the atrium (right atrium and left atrium) This is where blood enters the heart.

The lower part is called a ventricle. (right and left ventricle) This is where blood leaves the heart.

The blood is made up of four major parts: red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma.

a single drop contains millions of cells.The red blood cells contains a protein called Haemoglobin formed in the bone marrow and function mainly as oxygen carriers.

White blood cells make up the body's immune system. They fight off germs and protect the body from infections and diseases. When yu sick the body mek more white blood cells.

Platelets blood cells what do they do?

They are small cells that come together to help the blood clot. They help stop the bleeding when you get a cut.

Plasma blood cells what do they do?

a colourless watery fluid in the blood. It acts as a vehicle to transport nutrients, carbon dioxide and other waste products.

Its a part of the circulatory system. They transport blood throughout the body. There are 3 main kinds of blood vessels.

Arteries, veins and capillaries.
