Vertex Form of a Quadratic

$$f(x) = a(x - h)^2 + k$$ Vertex: $$(h, k)$$

Intercept (Factored) Form

$$f(x) = a(x - p)(x - q)$$ x-intercepts: set each parenthesis = 0 and solve. Axis of symmetry: $$\frac{p + q}{2}$$

Absolute Value Functions: 'a' Value

$ y = a|x| $ $ a > 0 $: opens up $ a 1 $: narrower or stretch \( 0

Vertex Form of Absolute Value

$ y = a|x - h| + k $ Vertex: $ (h, k) $

Exponential Functions: Growth or Decay

$$y = a \cdot b^x$$ a-value: y-intercept or initial value b-value: the change b > 1: growth 0

Simple Interest Formula

$ A = P(1 + rt) $ A: Total Amount P: Principal or initial amount r: rate (as a decimal) t: time

Compound Interest Formula

$$A = P \left(1 + \frac{r}{n}\right)^{nt}$$ A: Total Amount P: Principal or initial amount r: rate (as a decimal) t: time n: number of times compounded

1. Graph: where the function crosses the x-axis 2. Set equal to 0 and solve: a. Factor b. Square root c. Completing the square d. Quadratic Formula: $$x = \frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a}$$

Radical Rules: Product

a $$\sqrt{b}$$ \cdot c $$\sqrt{d}$$ = a \cdot c $$\sqrt{b \cdot d}$$

Radical Rules: Quotient

$$\frac{\sqrt{a}}{\sqrt{b}} = \sqrt{\frac{a}{b}}$$

Radical Rules: Addition and Subtraction

$$\sqrt{c}$$ + $$b \sqrt{c}$$ = (a+b) $$\sqrt{c}$$

Set equation = 0 (ax^2+bx+c=0), Multiply a and c

Box Method: Fill one term in each box, GCF up and left. Grouping: Group first two terms and last two terms, GCF each group
