Energy flow in ecosystems

Front

Producers

Back

Living things that make their own food

Front

Consumers

Back

Do not produce their own food, they have to consume other organisms for food

Front

Detritivores

Back

Obtain energy by eating the remains of other organisms

Front

Food Chain

Back

Model that shows how energy moves from the sun, to producers, to consumers through feeding relationships

Front

Food Web

Back

Model that shows energy transfer through multiple interconnected food chains

Front

Energy Pyramid

Back

Model that shows the amount of energy available in each step of a food chain (only 10%)

Front

Evaporation

Back

Process where liquid water changes into a gas (water vapor)

Front

Condensation

Back

Process where water vapor is changed into liquid water

Front

Precipitation

Back

When water falls from clouds to earth’s surface in the form of rain, snow, sleet, or hail

Front

Nitrogen Fixation

Back

Process that changes atmospheric nitrogen into nitrogen that can be used by living things
