Ex. Syncretism and Halloween (All Saint's Day)

Syncretic practices -are when you have the customs and rituals that are from different cultural traditions and religion.

ex. The day of the dead in Mexico was combines with the Catholic practice. (Dia de los Muertos)

Syncretic Religions-

When two or more religious tradition become a new one,

Ex. Like Vodou in Haitian and the ones in West African with Catholic elements, forming a new syncretic religion.

Religion vs. cult debate- Religion is a beliefs people follow most times in large group that are centered around spirituality or high power.

Cults are more on the smaller side. They are religious in nature but not always. They are more isolated from society or family. Sometimes have more young people in there following.

Sometime religions can become cults. But cults are sometimes religious in nature.

Witchcraft - is seen in a negative way. Do to the fact that it's seen as a cause of death, illness, or bad luck. Most people think that mostly women do witchcraft. And used as a way to blame someone

Rural Ghana witch camps- This is where women go when they are accused of being witches go for their safety. This could be their own family members or someone in their community. And if their family wants them back, they can send for them but most of the time they don't want them back.
