Let's review point of view. What are the 3 main points of view?

3

1st Person Point of View

  • Someone involved with the story is narrating (or telling) the events that happen. ---> USUALLY the main character

  • A positive point/advantage about 1st person POV: The reader can see in the thoughts and feelings inside the character’s head who is narrating the story.

  • A negative point/disadvantage about 1st person POV: It can be hard to see what the other characters are thinking/feeling; you have a limited perspective.

I know I'm not an ordinary ten-year-old kid. I mean, sure, I do orfinary things. I eat ice cream. I ride my bike. I play ball. I have an XBox. Stuff like that makes me ordinary. I guess. And I feel ordinary inside. But I know ordinary kids don't make other ordinary kids run away screaming in playgrounds. I know ordinary kids don't get stared at wherever they go.

The Professor left the kitchen, but he forgot his briefcase. He didn't come back for it. Jeff heard him go into his study, which used to be a living room, back down the hallway at the front of the house. What used to be the dining room was the living room. They all ate their meals at the Formica table in the kitchen. Jeff did his homework at that table, too, because there was no room for a desk in his tiny bedroom tucked under the eaves of the back house.

"You can't go that way, the path is blocked by something evil. No one who has gone down that path has ever returned," Xandor said to me, his face covered with shadows. We didn't really have any choice, considering that the black mist was following us. If we went the slow way, we would surely be consumed. I didn't want to argue, so I finished the argument. "Look, Xandor, I'm going. You can chop down trees and clear brush if you want to be fog food, but you're on your own." Then I started walking down the forbidden path. It wasn't long until I heard his footsteps pattering towards me.
