Muna

Muna is 12 years old. She lives with her parents, her sister, her brother and her grandparents in a rural area near Fujairah, in the UAE. Her house is small and very old. She always wakes up early for morning prayer and helps with the household chores. She usually feeds the animals, but sometimes she has to sweep the yard, too. When she finishes, she always has a wash and changes into her school uniform. She catches the bus to school which is about half an hour away. Muna starts school at 8.00. There are 25 pupils in her class.
 In the UAE, primary school children study Arabic, Maths, Science, Social Studies, Music, Art and PE. They also study Islamic Education, concentrating on Quran pronunciation and recitation. Muna’s favourite subject is Science. When she is older, she wants to be a teacher. Her favourite food is harees.
