Product (noun)

  • A product is an item that a seller would like to sell. Usually, a product is something that someone (a company, you, anyone) can make. 

  • "Apple is releasing a new product. I think it's called the iPhone X."

Advertise (verb)

  • To show a product or a service on TV, newspaper, YouTube, etc. to push people to buy it!  

  • "Coca Cola always advertises their soft drink!" 

  • The noun for advertise is advertisement, which means the activity of showing a product or service to shoppers! 

  • "I watched the Coca Cola advertisement on TV. Now, I want to buy Coca Cola.

Customer (noun)

  • A person/ people who buy a product or a service, we can call them a customer.

  • "We are opening a new restaurant, customers are welcome!"

  • A word with similar meaning to customer is consumer. It also starts with the letter C.

Price (noun.)

  • Price is how much money you pay for a product or a service. 

  • "The price of my new shirt was $250. It's too expensive!"

  • Interesting fact!: Be careful not to mix up the words "price" and "cost". Cost is how much a product needs to be made. Price is how much a customer pays. For example, "The cost to make a T-shirt is $10, but at the store, the price of the T-shirt is $100". This is how a company makes money!

Handmade (adjective.)

  • A product that is made by someone's hands without machines. Usually, products that have beautiful designs cannot be made by machine. So, they are made by creative and talented people!

  • "My grandma gave me this handmade bracelet for my birthday,

Refund (noun.)

  • When customers are not happy with a product or service, they can ask for their money back. This is called a refund. 

  • "Hey! This rice is rotten! I want a refund now! 

  • Refund can also be used as a verb: "This laptop really sucks, please refund me my money"

Delivery (noun.)

  • A delivery is when the products you buy is sent to your home or anywhere you want. You do not have to take the product with you when you shop!

  • "The delivery for your sofa will arrive in 3 days."

  • Deliver is the verb form of delivery. "This sofa is too heavy, please deliver it to us."

Material (noun.)

  • What the product is made of is called material. (metal? plastic? wood? cotton? etc.) 

  • "This shirt's material is cotton, super soft!"

Discount (noun)

  • When the price of a product decreases, the old price minus the new price is called a discount. For example, If the shirt is $20, and the new price is $15. Then the discount is $5.

  • "Is there any discount for this? It's too expensive!"

Payment (noun.)

  • It is the activity you must do to buy a product/service. We usually make a payment with money! 

  • "Miss! You need to make a payment before you can use that! 

  • The verb form is "pay". "Please pay for this chocolate bar, Mary"

Promotion (noun.)

  • A promotion is an activity that companies can use to make more people buy (SALE!, BUY ONE GET ONE FREE). For the difference 

  • "Our store has a new promotion. If you follow our Facebook page, you can get a new phone case!

Brand (noun.)

  • Brand is the name, symbol of a product/company. For example (Coca Cola, Nike, Air Jordan, Apple, iPhone are all brands). A brand is a name that can help you remember/recognize a product or a company!

  • "These shoes feel comfortable, what brand is this?"
