Definition of Integer

• A positive or negative whole number including 0

• Examples: 7, 12, 0, -5, 100

• Non-Examples: 2.1, 3/5, -1/2, -0.1

Numbers get "smaller" to the left and "larger" to the right. 

They can be written horizontally or vertically

Absolute Value

The absolute value of a number is just it's distance from zero.

The answer is always positive.

-3 is 3 spaces from zero so |-3| = 3

5 is 5 spaces from zero so |5| = 5
