A decimal

 A decimal is something that looks like a dot, but is very important. For example if you did not notice the decimal in 16.2 you would think the number is 162 instead of pretty much like 16.
 Decimals allow you to make a number between lets say 1 and 2, you could do 1.5!
For example if we did not have decimals it would be like choosing between if you are happy or mad, maybe you are in between or you are just meh. It's like that. You don't want it to be exactly 2 you might say that you would give it a 2.4 star rating.
