First stanza
Here the poet describes the attitudes and nature of both the ant and the cricket.
He says that the cricket always sings and dances but never does any work or doesn't gather any food for winter.
On the other hand, the ant is very hard working and never wastes any time but stores food for the winter.
Hence, the cricket did not have any food during winter whereas the ant has all the food he needs for himself and his family.
4
Second stanza
Here the poet says that the cricket is unable to find even a pice or crumb of food on the ground and his house has no food.
so, the cricket goes to the house of a miserly or stingy ant to see if the ant would give him some food and a warm place to stay.
5
Third-last stanza
When the cricket asks the ant ,he says that ants dont borrow or lend and when he found out that the cricket was dancing and singing during summer and spring, he tells the cricket to continue doing so and pushes the cricket out the door though he offers to return all the food later.
6
Last stanza
here the poet concludes the poem by warning the readers to never be lazy or slack in their work so they don't end up in a situation like the cricket.
in the last 2 lines(which is also the moral of the poem) "some crickets have four legs, some have two." the poet is trying to convey to the readers that while most crickets have four legs, the two legged ones are lazy humans who dont do their work properly and bear the consequences.
