What is Expanded Notation?

Expanded Notation is similar to expanded form in place value. For an example, let's say we have the number 735. We need to know how many groups of what we have in each column. In the hundreds place, there are seven groups of one hundred. Grab a notepad and do the other columns on your own.

How is Expanded Notation Similar to Expanded Form in Place Value?

Well, expanded notation is slightly similar to expanded form because you have to expand your number like slime to find out how many groups of what you have in each column. Let's do another example. Let's say we have the number 593. We would start with the hundreds place. The hundreds place has five groups of one hundred. Now, take out your notepad and a pencil or pen again to write down how many groups of tens and ones there are. I hope you have fun with this activity!
