Agenda

  • Check for knowledge question

  • What is due?

  • Open up Chapter 13 Text that is on GC under the Weather topic

  • How do scientists describe and predict weather?

  • Weather experiment

3

Open Ended

Explain the difference between and independent variable and dependent variable utilizing your own words.

4

What is due?

Let's take a look at google classroom. Late points will begin to be deducted starting today. It is vital that work is turned in on time.

5

What is weather?

  • Let's read from page 451 - 453

  • What is kinetic energy?

  • If the Kinetic energy of molecules in the air is low, what does that mean in terms of air temperatures?

  • What happens to air pressure as altitude decreases?

  • What instrument measures air pressure?

  • What is wind direction?

  • Describe humidity

6

Weather Experiment

  • Lets go to weather.com

  • Note the weather for the next 7 days

  • Open up your experimentation work page

  • Make a hypothesis and prediction about the next 7 days - for example "I predict that the forecasters will have accurate prediction X amount of days"

  • Next Tuesday you will review this data and submit your findings.

Poll

On a scale of 1 - 5, 1 being least knowledgeable and 5 being an expert how would you rate your knowledge of kinetic energy?

1 - I know nothing about kinetic energy

2 - I know a little bit but I need help

3 - I can use some more examples of kinetic energy

4 - I am sure that if I study a little bit more I will master this topic

5 - I know all there is to know about kinetic energy! Test me now!
