Present Continuous/Progessive Tense: An action continuously happening at the moment of talking / ongoing action

How to form Present Continuous Tense:

Affirmative: Subject+am/is/are+verb-ing Eg: She is dancing.

Negative: Subject+am/is/are + not + verb-ing Eg: You are not listening.

Interrogative: Am/Is/Are + Subject + verb-ing Eg: Are they working?

Usage:

  • Action happening now: Eg: You are listening to me at this moment.

  • Temporary situation: Eg: I am staying here for few days.

  • Habits: Eg: She is always lying.

  • Changing situations: The earth is getting warmer day by day.

  • Definite future plans: I am performing on stage this Monday.
