• Riverdale is a dramatic American TV series based on characters from Archie Comics. The series received a production order from broadcaster The CW, and premiered on January 26, 2017. The series was adapted for The CW by Archie Comics creative director Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, and is produced by Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, in association with Berlanti Productions and Archie Comics. Originally designed as a Warner Bros. film adaptation. Pictures, the idea was reinvented as a Fox television series. In 2015, the development of the project went to CW, where the series was commissioned for a pilot. Filming takes place in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The series features a cast based on Archie Comics characters, with KJ Apa in the role of Archie Andrews; Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge and Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, the series narrator. The cast also features Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy, Casey Cott as Kevin Keller, Charles Melton and Ross Butler as Reggie Mantle and Vanessa Morgan as Toni Topaz. Other characters in the series include the parents of the main characters: Luke Perry as Fred Andrews, Mädchen Amick as Alice Cooper, Marisol Nichols and Mark Consuelos as Hermione and Hiram Lodge respectively and Skeet Ulrich as FP Jones.

  The small, quiet town of Riverdale turns upside down when it is struck by the mysterious death of Jason Blossom, a popular high school boy and a member of the city's most powerful family. Archie Andrews, BettyCooper, Veronica Lodge, Jughead Jones, Cheryl Blossom, Kevin Keller, Josie Mccoy and their friends explore the problems of everyday life in the small town while investigating the Jason Blossom case. 5th season?

Get ready for another crazy season, because Riverdale's fifth season is officially underway. Confirmed by the CW in January, the teen drama received an early renewal, along with several other series on the channel.

Filming of the last episodes of the fourth season has been suspended for the safety of the coronavirus. With the final school year and the departure stories of FP Jones (Ulrich) and Hermione Lodge (Marisol Nichols) still on the air, the fifth season will begin with the three episodes of the fourth season that the cast has not yet filmed.

Was Riverdale's fifth season really confirmed?
