Select the words that affect the timing of a story

Timing words include:

• Flashback: the writer tells the reader about something from the past.

• Flash-forward: the writer takes the reader into the future.

• Foreshadowing: the author gives clues that hint to events that will occur later in the plot. This can create suspense.

Chronological Order:

The events are told in the order that they happen.

-Not to be confused with plot.
