Let's review the terms that were introduced last week.

What is a Drama?
a piece of writing that tells a story and is acted out on a stage
also known as a play

What are the Acts of a drama?
the main sections of the drama
like chapters in a book
made of many scenes

What are Scenes?
part of an act where specific events happen
scenes change each time the setting changes

What is the Setting?
when and where the story takes place
Example: The City of Agrabah a place in the desert with a Middle Eastern look
Example: A cave full of gold, jewels, and treasures

What are Stage Directions?
specific instructions for the actors
Example: (Aladdin walks over to the magic carpet, takes Jasmine's hand and leads her to sit on it with him)

What is Dialogue?
the words spoken by the actors
the dialogue is contained in the written version of the play called the Script

What is the Cast of Characters?
(Also known as the Cast)
the actors in the play
a character's name is shown in the script right before their lines of dialogue
their words and actions tells us about their personality

What is a Protagonist?
the "good guy in the story
usually the main charcter
Example: Aladdin

What is an Antagonist?
the "bad" guy in the story
usually casues some type of conflict for the protagonist
Examples: Jafar, the Sea Witch, Scar, Gaston, the Wicked Stepmother, Sid, Darth Vader....

Who is the Playwright?
The person who wrote the play
Sometimes a different person writes the book and someone is hired to change it into a script
