Giving the time
Time in Spanish is feminine. Therefore, we use the feminine articles "las" or "la" before the hours.

Giving the time
To give the time, we use the phrase "Son las" followed by the time in Spanish.
If it is 1 o'clock, we use the phrase "Es la" followed by the time.

We use the conjunction "y" to give the minutes when we are are giving the time.
"Son las siete y diez." - 7:10
"Es la una y cinco." - 1:05

When we want to say when something starts, we use the phrase "A las..." or "A la..." followed by the time.
"A las tres." - At 3 o'clock.
"A las cinco." - At 5 o'clock
"A la una." - At 1 o'clock.

Giving the time
In Europe and Latin America, Spanish-speakers use military time. However, they do not say the time this way. They only write it this way for class schedules, business hours, etc.

Ask for the time
When we want to ask for the time, we use the following questions:
"¿Qué hora es?" - informal manner
"¿Me puede decir la hora?" - formal manner

en punto - exactly
menos - till
"Es temprano." - It's early.
"Es tarde." - It's late.
