Today’s Lesson: 

Review internal and external conflict. Introduce additional conflict types: individual vs. other people, individual vs. environment, individual vs. self

Conflict

  • Conflict in a story is the struggle or problem faced by the main character

  • not all conflict is bad….conflict can be a challenge, a change, a decision, or an opportunity


  • In a story or novel, the actions that the characters take to solve the conflict or face the problem builds toward a climax.

  • an external conflict involves a character who struggles against an outside force (nature, a physical object, or another character).

  • an internal conflict is one that occurs within the character, such as struggling with fear or sadness
