What is a possessive adjective ?

They indicate the POSSESSION of an object or an animal or person and refer to the SUBJECT speaking
I ride MY bicycle
You wear YOUR shoes
She reads HER book
He does HIS homework
The cat lick ITS fur

You talk to YOUR parents
They go out with THEIR friends

They are ALWAYS followed by the possessed object - There MUST be a noun after them

The third person singular (HE - SHE - IT ) determins the possessive adjective, which is not linked to the object possessed, BUT to the person possessing

are used to express the BELONGING of something to a person or an animal.
They are used INSTEAD of nouns, to AVOID repetitions

POSSESSIVE PRONOUNS
are NEVER followed by a noun

— “It is not her sandwich, it’s mine.” = Mine replaces another element in the sentence (sandwich).
♦ “It is not her sandwich, it’s my sandwich.” = Her and my describe another element in the sentence (they are possessive adjectives).
