Passive Voice

A sentence is basically formed by a subject, verb and an object.

Here, Rama is the subject, write is the verb and story is the object. This is an active sentence in simple present tense.

Simple Present Passive

Object + am/is/are V3 (past participle)

Simple Past Passive

Object + was/were V3 (past Participle)

Active: They built the house in 1980.

Passive: The house was built in 1980.

C. Colombus discovered America. (past tense)

Passive: America was discovered by Colombus.

People eat pizza in Italy. (simple present)

Passive: Pizza is eaten in Italy.
