On September 25, 1918, Sandra Day O'Connor became the first woman to serve as an associate justice on the Supreme Court of the United States.


Sandra was born on March 26, 1930, in El Paso Texas. In 1952, she earned a law degree from Stanford University.


Before joining the Supreme Court, Sandra had a private law practice in Phoenix, Arizona. She was also a member of the Arizona Senate, a Supreme Court judge in Phoenix, and a judge on the Arizona Court of Appeals.
