Okay, So the Tamizh phonics is the first thing we are going to talk about. The phonics is divided into three parts. Number one Uyir Ezhuthu, Number 2 mei ezhuthu and lastly uyirmei ezhuthu.

Uyir ezhuthu (Today's topic)

Uyir ezhuthu are the vowels of tamizh. They are divided into 2. They are short and long vowels. The short vowels. are the letters that have very short sound i.e the sound does not last long but the long vowels have a longer sound i.e the sound lasts long.

The first letter

The first letter is à®… . This letter as we know it has a short sound and therefore is a short vowel. It has these examples like amma and appalam. More will be expained in later lessons
