How do I develop my ideas?

What ideas have arisen from your project so far?
The teaching idea here is to get you to think carefully about working independently.
3

True
4
Multiple Select
What is better
Knowing
Wanting to find out
5
Becoming is better than being...
Apart from their prior knowledge and life experiences, artists often start a project with nothing more than curiosity.
As a student, relatively new to photography, curiosity is always going to be the main driving force.
6
What does curiosity look like in photography?
Start by questioning everything
What's that!?
What makes it good?
Does it have meaning?
Are the artist's ideas interesting?
Can I make something like it?
What would happen if I changed...?
What have I learned from this?
What can I do with that learning?
7
Multiple Select
Which two attributes do ALL artists share
Talent
Curiosity
Good kit
Persistence
8
Of course talent is useful...
but you can do a lot with a little talent
and nothing at all with a lot of it.
9
So open up!
If it is not about who knows the most... then it must be about who is the most receptive.
Artists investigate by researching their themes. This process may take months or even years!
10
Multiple Select
Which word is at the heart of every great project. (And the marking criteria)
Presentation
Investigation
Infestation
Repetition
11
Making art is hard
It is the hardest subject -
because good art challenges our comfort zone.
Sometimes the best projects avoid playing it safe.
When we leave our comfort zone we learn something new.
12
Multiple Choice
One great way to start is to try and work in the style of an artist you like.
What would make a really good response?
A shoot that is exactly the same
A shoot that shares characteristics
A completely original shoot
13
All artists steal ideas!!
The magic happens when the original idea passes through them - because it is very likely to change.
And change is good!
14
Multiple Select
So where do I start if I'm not sure what to do
Try to re-create a photograph you like
Make a sketch of an idea!
Read about interesting photographs
Talk to friends/teacher about my idea
Any of these
15
The trick is to start...
Bring unsure is normal.
Just don't do nothing.
Trust your instincts - or follow a hunch.
An investigation is rarely a straight line.
16
So.
Be curious.
Read about ideas
Share ideas
Test ideas.
Work hard!
Don't give up...
That's (almost) all there is to it...
17
Open Ended
List, describe, explain. What ideas are beginning to surface in my investigation?
Remember: You don't have to be sure - to share an idea.
