Stative verbs = not active verbs

For example:

jump, run, eat = dynamic, active, things we physically do

think, imagine, love = not active

Stative verbs divide into 4 categories:

• senses (חושים) - see, hear, fell, taste, sound, smell

• feelings (מחשבות) - love, hate, like, need, want

• thoughts (מחשבות) - think, know, understand, remember, imagine, believe

• others - have, belong

We don't add to the "stative verbs" the verb "to be" (am\is\are) or ing EVEN is the action is happening now.

An example:

אני רוצה לאכול עכשיו.

I am wanting to eat now. -> wrong

want = stative verb -> we usually don't use the present progressive rules with stative verbs

I am wanting to eat now. -> wrong

I want to eat now. -> correct
