Singular Forms of the Verb ser
yo soy - I am
tú eres - you are
él es - he is
ella es - she is
Usted es - you are

nosotros somos - we are (all male or mixed)
nosotras somos - we are (all female)
vosotros sois - all of you are (used only in Spain)
ellos son - they are (all male or mixed)
ellas son - they are (all female)
Ustedes son - all of you are (used in the USA)

Tú and Usted
The personal pronouns tú and usted both mean you.
Tú is used when talking directly to a peer or someone younger. It is called the informal "you".
Usted is used when talking directly to someone older or someone of a higher social status. It is called the polite "you".

The Use of Personal Pronouns
Personal pronouns are OPTIONAL.
Examples:
Yo soy alto. OR Soy alto. (without yo)
Nosotros somos alumnos. OR Somos alumnos. (without nosotros)
