joints

  • it is a place where two or more bones meet.

  • without joints, our body will not be able to move.

  • there are several types of joints ,each producing different amount of movement.

  • joins allow flexibilityand the movement of the skeleton and allow attachment between bones.

  • muscles are attached to bones by tough tissue called tendons .

hinge joint

  • hinge joint is very strong ,but allow movement in one plane only .

  • it allows movement either up or down or back ward and forward

  • ball like surface of one bone fits into a cup like hollow in the either .

  • it allows movement in all direction hip and shoulder.

pivot joint

  • the rounded surface of one bone fits into a ring formed by the either .

  • it allows head to turn left and right and also move up and down .

  • ex: neck joins the head.

  • this allows bones to glide over each other, providing movement in all direction.

  • thin long threads of fibrous tissue that are bundled up togather .

BONES

  • it is a hard and almost inflexible structure .

  • muscles ,attached to these bones, help them move.

CARTILGE

  • the end of bones are coverd with a tough, elastic tissue called cartilage.

  • it makes end of bones smooth and reduces friction between the bones during movement

  • it is present in upper part of ear and in front of your nose.
