What do we need to form the negative?

• To for the negative, we need: Ne .... pas or N' ..... pas

• Je ne suis pas américain(e).

• Il n'y a pas de crayons.

• Tu n'as pas de stylo.

Where do we put the Ne ... pas?

• Subject + ne/n' + verb + pas
