Sun and Star Vocabulary

Star:

Huge balls of hot gas in space that constantly generate an enormous amount of energy 

The star was brighter as the sky got darker.

Model:

A representation of a thing or system typically on a smaller scale than the original.

The model shows the weather climate around the world.

Compare and contrast: What is the same and different between two things.

I can compare and contrast the sun and the moon. The sun does not move but the moon does move around the Earth.

Observation: To carefully watch or listen

I made a careful observation of the sky and saw many stars and the moon.

Represent: To symbolize or stand for

The flashlight will represent the sun. It's not actually the sun but is pretending to be for our experiment.

Brighter: To get more and more light.

The flashlight is getting brighter because more light is coming out.

Dimmer: To get less and less light

The flashlight on the top is getting dimmer because less light is coming out.
