ADDITION OF RUPEES AND PAISE

Addition of money is like normal addition, here we must add the Paise first and then add the rupees.

Have a look at the given examples.

Example 1. Add ₹ 41.35 and ₹ 23.21

Solution. Arrange the numbers in tabular format as shown .Add the paise : 35p + 21p = 56p

Add the rupees : ₹ 41 + ₹ 23 = ₹ 64

So, the result is ₹ 64.56

We arrange the amount in columns i.e., paise under paise, rupees under rupees and dot under dot. Now add as usual as ordinary numbers.

 Add ₹ 432.22 to ₹ 147.65

Solution. Arrange the numbers in tabular format as shown .
