Postsecondary Education

Any school or training program you attend after high school.

College

•A school higher than high school. You go here to prepare for your career.

Technical School

A post-secondary vocational school that trains students in a variety of skills, especially in the manual trades, health care, and computer technology.

Community College

Is committed to higher learning, but on a smaller, more local scale than a traditional college. Most offer associate's degrees, which can be completed in about two years. Often known as a  two year college.

Major

A main subject studied by a student.

Degree

A title given to a student by a college, university or professional school upon completion of a program of study

Dorm

A place where college students live and sleep while they attend college.

Financial Aid

Money to help pay for college.

FAFSA

The primary form used to determine your eligibility for financial aid.

Scholarships

Money given to a student to help pay for education after high school. Students typically receive scholarships for good grades or working hard. This money does not have to be paid back.
