All music is composed using major and minor scales.

Major Scale

• The third note is major or "high"

• Often associated with a happy or joyous mood.

Minor Scale

• The third note is minor or "low"

• Often associated with a sad or sinister mood.

Many of the songs you recognize from your childhood are recorded in a major key.

Examples: "Happy Birthday" , "Star Spangled Banner" , "Mary Had a Little Lamb"
