Simple present for future events

• It is used to make statements about events at a time later than now, when the statements are based on present facts, and when these facts are something fixed like a time-table, schedule, calendar.

• The plane arrives at 18.00 tomorrow.

• She has a yoga class tomorrow morning.

• Next Thursday at 14.00 there is an English exam.

• It is commonly used with the verbs arrive, leave, come back, go, start, finish, etc.

Present Continuous

• It is formed by the verb to be in present + main verb -ing

• watch --> I am watching, he is watching, they are watching

Present Continuous for future reference

• It is used to talk in general about an arrangement for the future

• Sometimes there is a suggestion that more than one person is aware of the event, and that some preparation has already happened

• I'm meeting Jim at the airport, I am leaving tomorrow, We're having a staff meeting next month.
