welcome to my class, while you wait you can read these essays about and African Forest Elephants: The word Elephant in latin (as ‘ele’ and ‘phant’) means the ‘Huge Arch’. Most elephants live in the grasslands of Africa and in the forests of Asia although elephants can live in nearly any habitat that has adequate quantities of food and water. Elephants live in groups called ‘herds’. The herd is usually made up of ten females and their young. NEXT directly related to the matriarch, who is typically the oldest and largest female. There are two species of elephant – the African elephant and the Asian elephant. The African is the larger of the two and weighs up to 6 tons. Regardless of where elephants live, their social behaviours and social structures remain largely the same. The African elephant and the Asian elephant are the only two surviving species of what was in prehistoric times a diverse and populous group of large mammals. While Asian elephants and African elephants have a lot in common, they differ slightly in appearance and each faces different threats to its survival.NEXT The elephant is the largest animal that lives on land. Elephants are warm-bloodied mammals and members of the ‘Pachyderm’ species which means ‘thick-skinned animals’. Elephants form the family ‘Elephantidae’. Male elephants can grow to be 13 feet tall. That is more than twice as tall as 2 tall human beings. Elephants can weigh as much as a single decker bus – between 10 and 14 thousand pounds

Did you know this about tigers?
The eight recognized tiger subspecies are extremely varied in their habitat and distribution.
The Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris tigris) is native to the Indian subcontinent. The Amur tiger (Panthera tigris altaica) is mainly found in Manchuria by the Amur River. The south Chinese tiger (Panthera tigris amoyensis) is native to south central China, slightly northward from the Indo-Chinese tiger (Panthera tigris corbetti) The Indo-Chinese tiger (Panthera tigris corbetti) has a southeastern distribution in China. Indonesia is where the Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) is found. The Javan (Panthera tigris sondaica) and Balinese (Panthera tigris balica) tigers are now extinct but were native to Bali and Java in Indonesia respectively. The Caspian tiger, now extinct, (Panthera tigris virgata) was historically found in Turkey through central and west Asia.

Did you know this about roadrunners?
The Roadrunner is one of very few animals quick enough to prey upon rattlesnakes, yet it has a comical personality that can brighten the day of anyone who spots one. Simply just relax, pay attention, and enjoy!
The Roadrunner (Geococcyx californianus) is native to the Southwestern desert and gained its name from its habit of running on the road towards cars. American Expedition is proud to present information, interesting facts, and photos

Did you know this about anteaters?
Looks can be deceiving:Its name is a hint to one of its favorite foods, and you can't miss its long snout, but there's more to the story of the giant anteater! This unique animal is the largest of the four anteater species (the others are the silky anteater, the northern tamandua, and the southern tamandua). The giant anteater is about the size of a golden retriever, but thick, bushy hair makes it look even bigger.
The anteater's gray hair feels like straw and grows especially long on the tail (up to 16 inches or 40 centimeters), and it sports a stylish stripe of black that stretches from under the nose to the middle of the back. This stripe is outlined in white, tan, or gray and goes down to a black ring around the base of the front feet. The hairy, bushy tail is often used as a blanket or sunshade. The giant anteater’s elongated head and nose are perfectly designed to get in and out of a termite mound or anthill
