The verb to be

When to use the verb "to be"?

• רגשות או מצב: She is happy. The babies are hungry.

• לתאר אדם/חפץ/מקום: He is tall. The book is red.

• מיקום: I am at home.

• מרכיבי זהות- גיל, מגדר, עיסוק, לאום ועוד: They are teachers. You are 12 years old.

לכל שם גוף יש את הצורה שלו

• I am

• he, she, it is

• we, you, they are

Negative form צורת שלילה

• I am not - I'm not. I'm not at home.

• he is not (he's not/he isn't), she is not (she's not/she isn't), it is not (it's not/it isn't). Dan isn't angry.

• we are not (we're not/we aren't), they are not (they're not/they aren't), you are not (you're not/you aren't). Mom and Dad are singers.

Question form - משפטי שאלה

yes/no questions- the answer is yes or no.

Are you happy? yes, I am. No, I'm not.

הפועל יהיה ראשון, אחריו הנושא (שם גוף/שם עצם) ואז המשך המשפט.
