What do all these questions mean?

Question words

• ¿Quién? = Who?

What is this questions asking: ¿Cómo te llamas?

• What is your name?

• How old are you?

¿Cómo? means how? So, how can it be that ¿Cómo te llamas? means: What is your name?

Remember, we don't transalte things word for word. Sometimes a word can be directly translated. Other times it's the over all meaning that is expressed in different way.

That one was a little easier.

¿Donde? means: where - Where do you live? is pretty straightforward.

Yep - again, we can't always translate sentences word for work. In Spanish, we have years; therefore, we are asking how many years someone has.

This is tricky. ¿Cómo eres tú? is asking you to describe yourself.

¿Cómo estas tú? is asking how you are feeling?

These two questions are similar, but one is more specific. ¿De qué color son tus ojos? is asking specifically about the color of your eyes, not if they are big or small or round of blue.

¿Cómo? ...

Is usually looking for a description. In this case, describe your personality. What are you like would be ¿Cómo eres?... looking for a general description.

Did you know that you are not supposed to end a sentence with a preposition??

We do it in English often... but it's not exactly correct. This question - ¿De dónde eres tú? is really asking: From where are you? And we answer with: SOY DE....

If ME GUSTA says: I LIKE, then TE GUSTA says: YOU LIKE... so, to ask a question, use TE GUSTA. ¿Qué te gusta hacer? is asking what it is that you like TO DO...hacer = to do? Hint: To answer this, you would tell what it is that you like to do (bailar, cocinar, jugar videojuegos).

Now, look at the question and pick all of the possible responses... not just if they are true to you. Don't just click one and think you are done.
