Simple Sentence (independent clause) - one subject and one predicate, an idea that can stand alone

  • The dog chased the cat.

Dependent Clause - an incomplete idea that cannot stand alone

  • NOTE: Dependent clauses start with sub-ordinating conjunctions (while, since, because, when, after, although, etc.) and have a noun AND a verb.
