a good story plot centers on a conflict which is a problem or struggle between opposing forces that triggers the action and events of the story.

2 Types of Conflict
External Conflict - involves a character who struggles against an outside force, such as nature, a physical obstacle, or another character.
Internal Conflict - is one that occurs within a character, such as a character struggling with fear or sadness.

Conflict
A story may include both external and internal conflicts. The reader can usually determine which conflict is most central to the plot of a story by deciding which conflict most consistently affect the plot's events and main character's development as the story progresses.
