Grammar: The use of but
The word but is one of the seven conjunctions (kata hubung) in English.
But is used to connect or join two statements that contrast or contradict each other in some way.
Example:
Long ago, people rode horses, but today they drive cars.
Long ago, people used to read by candles, but now we read by electric light.

Grammar: The use of Instead
Instead is an adverb. We use instead when we’re offering an alternative or as substituting one thing with another thing.
The common usage is we use instead at the end of sentence.
Example:
I don’t want cookies. I’ll have a piece of cake instead.
Now, people buy soap from stores. Before, people made soap instead.
Long ago, people didn't have computer, they wrote letters instead.

We use comparative adjectives to make comparisons.
The rules: One-syllable words take –er (taller, shorter).
Most words with three or more syllables take more (more difficult, more expensive,etc).
Subject + BE Verb (is/am/are) + more + adjective + than + Subject/noun
