Solving for y in terms of x

Linear equations come in three forms

• Standard Ax + By = C

• Point slope y -y₁ = m(x - x₁)

• Slope intercept y=mx + b

Apply solving for a variable in terms of another

• When given standard or point slope form it is best to put the equation in slope intercept form

• To do this solve for y in terms of x

Example: 3x + 4y = 20

Example 2: y - 8 = 3(x + 4)
