Elements are ingredients.

The things we put together to make art are the art elements, like the things we put together to make a cake are the baking elements. We need flour, sugar, eggs, butter and special flavor ingredients when we bake a cake. When these elements are put in the cake and handled just right, a great cake can be made!

When we design a picture, we choose which elements to use where.

If I want to make a picture what ELEMENTS could I use?

Think about what ingredients we might need to draw a picture of an elephant!
