CONJUNCTION

Conjunction are words that are used to join words, phrases or sentences together.

there are 4 common conjunctions:

• And

• or

• but

• so

1. AND

1. It is used to join words and phrases of the same kind
2. Example: Lisa likes to watch comedies AND listen to pop songs.
3. It can be used to join two sentences
4. Example: Peter went to town AND bought a new tie.

OR

1. It is used to connect two or more choices. The listener would have to choose one of the options
2. Example: We can go there on foot OR by car.

BUT

1.It is used to join ideas that are opposite or different

2.Example: That girl is pretty, BUT she is so vain

3. Sometimes, the pronouns in the second clause can be left out

4. Example: Lim eats a lot, but (he) never gets fat

SO

1. It is used to show the result of an action
2. example: He did not study, so he couldn't answer the examination questions
